Nice to meet you. This is Colombia Castillo Decaf — proof that you can lose the caffeine, not the flavour.
The aroma leans into dried fruits. In the cup: prunes, dried apricots and juicy orange. The finish is citrusy, fresh and long. Medium body — just right for an evening cup without overdoing it.
The decaffeination process uses dichloromethane (methylene chloride, CH₂Cl₂), an efficient method that preserves flavour. Green beans are first steamed and soaked in hot water to open their pores and make caffeine extraction easier. The solvent selectively removes caffeine while leaving most flavour compounds intact. The process is repeated several times to reduce caffeine to well below 0.1%, in line with European standards. Finally, the beans are steamed again to remove any solvent residue and dried to normal moisture levels.
So yep — you can drink coffee in the evening, during a night shift, or anytime you want the taste without the buzz. Colombia Castillo Decaf proves you really can have it all: flavour and good sleep in one cup.
