The aroma is instantly warm and comforting: caramelised apples and chocolate, like a freshly baked apple pie in a mountain cabin. In the cup — red apples, plum and cranberry. Clean, juicy and balanced, with a beautifully lively acidity.
Huehuetenango is one of Guatemala’s most respected coffee regions. Located near the Cuchumatanes mountains, it benefits from warm air flowing in from the Mexican plains meeting cool mountain breezes. This allows coffee to grow at high elevations without frost risk, while cherries ripen slowly and develop intense flavour.
The region is remote, so most farmers process their own coffee. Water is plentiful, experience runs deep — and that’s why Huehuetenango is famous for its clean washed coffees with bright fruit notes.
