Ethiopia Suke Werekata is an Arabica from the highland Uraga region (Solomo), one of the highest coffee-growing areas in the world. Here, trees grow at 1800–2200 meters, and in some places even above 2300 meters. Yields are smaller, but the quality is out of this world.
The Suke Werekata processing station works with smallholder farmers, each owning no more than 2 hectares. In the 2023–2024 season, over 240 farmers brought around 400,000 kg of cherries grown from the JARC 74110 and 74112 varieties — two legendary Ethiopian cultivars, resistant to the local climate and known for their vibrant flavor.
This lot undergoes a 72-hour anaerobic processing. The station’s team specializes in experimental batches: careful control of every stage, precise data collection, and constant small adjustments result in the cleanest, most intense, and fruity cup profile. It’s no surprise that Uraga and the Guji zone have long been renowned for their unique fertile soil and historically untouched forests.
The result is a pronounced aroma of flowers and bergamot, a bright taste of lime and pomegranate with honeyed sweetness and a juicy fruity aftertaste.
Ethiopia Suke Werekata — a pure concentrate of Ethiopian altitude, terroir, and experimental craftsmanship.
